Artificial jewellery rewards a little consistency. Moisture, fragrance and friction are the most common reasons a piece loses its original glow, and each is easy to manage with a short routine.
Dress first, jewellery last
Apply perfume, lotion, makeup and hair products before putting on jewellery. Give products a moment to dry so they do not settle on stones or metal surfaces.
Wipe after every wear
Use a clean, soft and completely dry cloth. A gentle wipe removes skin oils and moisture before they have time to dull the finish. Avoid abrasive fabric, brushes and household cleaners.
Store pieces separately
Keep each piece in its own soft pouch or compartment. This prevents chains from tangling and stones from rubbing against other surfaces. Add a small silica-gel packet where humidity is high.
Keep water at a distance
Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising or washing hands. If a piece becomes damp, pat it dry immediately and allow it to air before storage.
Handle with intention
Open clasps and backs using their mechanisms rather than pulling on chains or settings. That one small habit protects the structure of delicate designs.
